MARSHALL N. CARTER

DEPUTY CHAIRMAN, NYSE EURONEXT

Mr. Carter is the deputy chairman of the NYSE Euronext Board. Mr. Carter served on the board of NYSE Group from November 2003 and as chairman of that board from April 2005 until the merger of NYSE Group and Euronext. Mr. Carter has also served as a director of NYSE Liffe U.S. since November 2008. Mr. Carter is the former chairman and chief executive officer of the State Street Bank and Trust Company, and of its holding company, State Street Corporation (United States), a position in which he served from 1992 until his retirement in 2001. He joined State Street in July 1991. Mr. Carter formerly served as a director of Honeywell International, Inc. (United States) from 1997 to 2005 and was the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Boston Medical Center from 2001 to 2009. He also served in Vietnam as a Marine Corps infantry officer. Mr. Carter was most recently a lecturer in leadership and management at the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.
